Jordan Brand takes their lumps for designs but the newly released CP3.V, Chris Paul’s fifth signature sneakers, is a winner. No, the silhouette is neither the most dashing nor is it a huge departure from previous models but the devil is truly in the details here as designers found intricate ways to bring Chris’ character and personal history into the sneaker’s creation.
Athletes have traditionally sought to acknowledge their loved ones during games, whether it be scoring celebrations, markings on their athletic tape or wristbands or John Hornacek’s three-stroke, free throw routine meant as a communication to his kids. In the video below, senior footwear designer Tom Luedecke states, “When Chris gets on the court and laces up his shoes, he wants to feel like his family is there with him” and indeed CP’s loved ones are present throughout the CP3.V as well as nods to another unlikely but influential sport for Paul, bowling. Jumpman23 has a simple breakdown posted and my guy GK3’s* shared an even more detailed version at Nice Kicks, complete with accompanying pics.
